Introducing Malachite

Therapeutic Malachite is a striking opaque gemstone noted for its characteristic parallel bands of alternating light and dark green colors. Its key benefit is supporting the core vertical flow, which moves up and down the length of the body. By strengthening and extending this flow, Malachite supports detoxification and separates energies that have clumped together, causing stagnation and blockage. Introducing Sunstone

Therapeutic Sunstone is a translucent, pale orangey-peachy colored gemstone that contains characteristic copper flecks. Sunstone energy awakens your causal body and synchronizes it with the physical. Physical and causal work together as they should. When they work together, information is readily passed between one and the other to prevent the body from becoming overburdened with memories.

Malachite Toxicity

Some sources warn about the potential toxicity of this copper-based gemstone. Indeed, stone cutters protect themselves against Malachite dust by wearing a mask. Malachite beads do not expose you to this dust.

The copper mineral in Malachite can leach into water, which can potentially be toxic to drink. Do not use Malachite to make Malachite water, gemstone tea, or Malachite compresses. Do not make Malachite infusions by soaking it in water and leaving it in sunlight (or moonlight).

Do not put Malachite & Sunstone in your mouth. Do not allow children to hold Malachite & Sunstone if there is a remote possibility they would put these gemstones in their mouth.

Those who have a copper allergy and want to work with Malachite should wear the necklace on top of clothing, placed in a pocket or pouch, or applied in a Gemstone Therapy session.

Other Cautions

When excessive heat or inflammation is present, wear cooling stones first, such as Aquamarine & Mother of Pearl. Malachite’s ability to move energies in the body can exacerbate the inflammation. Once it is resolved, you can then wear Malachite & Sunstone to address the stagnation that may be an underlying cause.

When excessive toxicity is suspected, apply Malachite & Sunstone for brief periods. As pools of toxicity break up, you don’t want to release more than your body can comfortably handle.

Numerology

Our standard Malachite & Sunstone formula has two symbiotic Sunstone beads and is meant to be worn as a necklace for ongoing support. This design provides the numerological influence of an even number up front to maintain balance and steadiness, and two relatively large prime numbers between the Sunstone and the clasp. Special-Order Malachite for Gemstone Therapy Practitioners

Gemstone Therapy practitioners are welcome to special-order a Malachite that has six Sunstone gems. This would be used for clients who need help transferring and storing memories as well as getting rid of toxins. It can be applied in the aura, wrapped on a therapy wand, or used as a poultice. This formula also has an even number of Malachite up front, and features smaller sections of prime numbers on the sides.

Malachite with six Sunstone may be too intense for some people, and is best reserved for use as a therapy tool. Worn as a necklace, the extra Sunstone can transport information from the physical body to causal storage faster than the wearer is willing and able to accept. This can be discomforting. It’s natural for people want to hold onto what’s familiar. Take it away too quickly—faster than what a person can comfortably process—and imbalances can occur. The wearer might tighten their grip and work against the gemstones’ influence.

Gemstone Therapy practitioners are trained to know how to support this release using other gemstones, and to remove gemstones such as Malachite & Sunstone when the client has had enough.

Therapeutic Quality

Malachite is a very soft gemstone with a Mohs hardness 3.5 - 4. The stone is characterized by parallel light and dark green stripes, whose endless variations make every sphere unique. The therapeutic value of Malachite is closely linked to the quality of these stripes.

Ideally, they should have crisp borders and be evenly distributed throughout the bead, rather than dominating the center or one side of it. The bands should consist of rich, well-contrasted colors that are not muddy or speckled.

A Malachite sphere with bands that are perfectly perpendicular to its drill hole is rare indeed. Unfortunately, drillers are usually not very careful. We have to high-grade many beads that are otherwise excellent in every other way.

When a drill hole is precisely perpendicular to its bands, you can roll the bead on the necklace and the bands won’t wobble.

Malachite Grading

We grade gemstones based on their color, clarity, candescence, and cut.

Malachite color is graded by how bright, rich, and pure the greens are in the beads. Detractors include muddiness, spots, and poor contrast.

Malachite’s clarity and candescence are measured using different parameters than we use for other types of gemstones. Malachite’s clarity measures the tilt of the bands and how much they vary from perfect. To evaluate a sphere, we string it and then turn it and evaluate how much the bands wobble. They could wobble very slightly, slightly, moderately, obviously, or not at all. A therapeutic quality necklace consists of spheres whose bands wobble only very slightly, slightly, or not at all.

Even a few beads whose bands obviously wobble can lower a Malachite necklace’s overall value. This is because the bands determine in which direction they support the core vertical flow. Beads that are obviously tilted are not therapeutic. They project the core vertical flow at angles rather than straight up and down. This can stress the body, and ultimately weaken the core vertical flow.

A necklace whose bands have perfect alignment is exponentially more powerful than a necklace with bands that wobble very slightly. Spheres with a very slight wobble are exponentially more powerful than those with a slight wobble, and these are exponentially more effective than those with a moderate wobble.

The presence of three to five obviously wobbly beads in a necklace would classify that necklace unusable therapeutically. It will weaken the core vertical movement. The beads would be urging that movement to go off in different directions rather than staying vertical. Avoid them completely.

Malachite candescence reflects the population of the lines and their distribution. Ideal therapeutic-quality spheres have at least four pairs of light and dark green lines, that are evenly distributed throughout the sphere. Mid-grade therapeutic quality spheres might have bands that are collected on one half of the sphere, or gathered in the middle. The thinner the bands, the more can fit on a sphere, and the better its therapeutic value.

How to Wear

Malachite & Sunstone is best worn as a necklace (versus a bracelet) so that the gemstone energies can spread more evenly throughout the aura. This allows them to more efficiently and completely access the causal body to help with memory storage. It also best supports the core vertical flow that supports overall health and wellness.

How to Cleanse

Cleansing Malachite with water is not recommended because it will remove its shiny polish more quickly. Use the GEMFormulas clearing sprays instead. If you must use water, rinse briefly and immediately and dry the gems thoroughly with a towel. Over time, and especially if you wear Malachite & Sunstone next to your skin, this polish will eventually wear off.
